These checks solve most reports:
It says “invalid key”
This usually means you pasted a standard API key instead of an admin one. SpendBar reads billing, and billing is admin-only. Anthropic admin keys start with sk-ant-admin; OpenAI admin keys start with sk-admin-.
It shows $0 or “add API key”
If you haven't added a key yet, “add API key” is expected. If you've added a valid admin key and still see $0, your org may have no usage-based charges this period, or the provider may still be totaling today's spend. Try Refresh now from the menu.
I don't see my ChatGPT Plus / Claude Pro usage
That's expected. SpendBar tracks pay-as-you-go API spend, not flat-rate subscription plans. The 5-hour and weekly limits on those plans aren't available through any public API.
Where is my data?
On your Mac. Keys are in the macOS Keychain and spend history is cached locally. The app only ever talks to Anthropic and OpenAI directly. See the privacy policy for the details.
